The Somerset Cultural Centre at Knowle Hall hosts short-term educational and cultural exchange programmes for visiting students and teachers from China and the UK.

We are now seeking an additional
Minibus Driver
to join our friendly and reliable transport team. You'll help ensure students and staff travel safely and comfortably to and from airports, excursions and local schools.
About the Role
This is a rewarding and varied role for someone who enjoys driving, takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, and understands the importance of representing the Centre with professionalism and warmth. and wants to contribute to a positive experience for visiting students
You'll be joining an existing team of experienced drivers, providing
shared cover
across the weekly transport schedule.
Typical journey times are
departures around 8:00am and returns by 5:00pm
, with
occasional evening or night runs
, mainly
airport transfers to Heathrow
(shared fairly among the team, roughly twice per month).
You'll often be one of the first people our international guests meet upon arrival, helping them feel safe, welcome and supported during their stay.
Key Responsibilities
Safely transport students and staff between the Centre, airports and local destinations.
Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure minibuses are clean, fuelled and roadworthy.
Support with supervision of students during journeys, ensuring seatbelts are worn and behaviour is safe.
Support with luggage handling and basic communication between passengers and staff.
Record mileage and report any vehicle defects or incidents immediately.
Follow all school transport, safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
What We're Looking For
Full, clean UK driving licence with D1 entitlement (or equivalent).
Good driving record and strong understanding of road safety.
Reliable, professional and flexible approach to working hours..
Friendly, calm and supportive manner, especially with young people.
Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Desirable:
Experience working in a school, college or youth environment.
First Aid certificate or willingness to train.
Awareness of Chinese culture or experience with international students.
