School Network Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive School Network Manager to join our Technical Services team, responsible for the design, maintenance, and support of the school's IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will ensure the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of our network systems, supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. You will oversee the day-to-day management of the school's IT infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, security systems, and cloud-based services, ensuring that all services are accessible and functioning efficiently for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities



Network & Infrastructure Management:



Manage and maintain the school's network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, and cabling (in line with DfE standards).

Ensure the availability, performance, and security of the school's internal and external networks.

Oversee server management, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows servers and cloud-based systems (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365).

Monitor network performance, identifying and resolving any issues that arise.

Manage backups, disaster recovery plans, and data security, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.

Technical Support:



Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support to resolve complex IT issues for staff and students.

Ensure timely resolution of network-related incidents and problems, minimizing downtime and service disruption.

Support the deployment of hardware and software, including desktop and mobile devices (especially iPads), screens, and learning platforms.

Security & Compliance:



Implement and manage network security policies, including firewall management, Remote Access, and endpoint protection.

Conduct regular security audits, ensuring the network is protected against threats such as viruses, malware, and unauthorised access.

Ensure that IT policies, procedures, and systems comply with UK education regulations, including data protection (GDPR).

Team Responsibilities:



Supervise and mentor junior IT staff, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.

Liaise with the Director of Technical Services to align IT strategy with the educational goals of the institution.

Assist the Director of Technical Services with the management external contractors and suppliers, ensuring value for money and effective delivery of services.

Planning & Development:



Lead on the design and implementation of network infrastructure projects, including upgrades and new installations.

Identify opportunities to improve and innovate within the school's IT environment, ensuring the school stays up-to-date with the latest educational technologies.

Assist the Director of Technical Services with monitoring IT budgets and resources, ensuring cost-effective procurement of hardware, software, and services.

To undertake any further reasonable duties as requested by the Headmistress.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 36,000.00-38,000.00 per year
