We are a values-led community with a deep commitment to nurturing every student's individual strengths and potential. Learning at Dovecote happens everywhere--in the classroom, the woods, the art room, and on the school minibus!
We're now looking for a skilled, dependable and compassionate individual to join our site and transport team as a School Transport Maintenance Mechanic and Driver. This dual role is key to ensuring our students can travel safely and comfortably to and from school--and that our vehicle fleet is roadworthy, well-maintained, and ready for the journey ahead.
What You'll Be Doing
Driving students to and from school each day (morning and afternoon routes)
Carrying out daily and weekly vehicle safety checks
Supporting the mechanical upkeep of the school's vehicle fleet
Completing repairs, diagnostics, cleaning and maintenance
Responding to any transport-related safety or behavioural incidents
Maintaining logs, inspection records and working closely with the compliance team
What We're Looking For
A qualified or experienced vehicle mechanic with strong diagnostic skills
A confident driver with a full UK manual licence and a calm, student-focused approach
Someone who is proactive, safety-conscious and takes pride in doing things properly
Someone who can be part of a small, trusted team and work independently when needed
A kind, steady presence who understands the needs of neurodivergent students
Knowledge of safeguarding and vehicle safety legislation (or willingness to learn)
Why Join Dovecote?
A school community that's deeply relational, creative and inclusive
A calm, supportive working environment where every role is valued
Comprehensive CPD including safeguarding, first aid and H&S training
Opportunities to grow within a highly respected and developing provision
Free lunch, use of school facilities, and uniform provided
