Penrice Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and versatile individual to take on a combined role as Science Technician and Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This unique opportunity will see you supporting both the practical delivery of science lessons and the wider teaching and learning needs of our students, playing a vital part in our commitment to high-quality education and student success. The role is 37 hours per week, term time plus 5 INSET days.

In your role as Science Technician, you will work closely with the science team to prepare and maintain equipment and materials for practical lessons, ensuring that all experiments and demonstrations are carried out safely and effectively. Your organisational skills and attention to detail will contribute to a well-run, engaging science department.

As an HLTA, you will support teaching and learning across a range of subjects, working with individuals, small groups, and supporting classes under the guidance of teaching staff. You will play an important part in helping students to progress, providing tailored support and building strong relationships that promote confidence and achievement.

This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys variety, has a passion for science and education, and thrives in a dynamic school environment. Experience in either a laboratory or classroom setting is desirable, and HLTA status or equivalent qualifications are welcomed - though training and support will be available for the right candidate. The role of HTLA can allow progression to a teaching apprenticeship or ITT with the right qualifications.
