At Duke of Lancaster School, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of students with complex moderate learning difficulties. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Science Teacher to join our team and help create an inspiring, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to adapt the curriculum to meet a wide range of learning needs. They will demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND, particularly in relation to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and communication needs. Additionally, they will be confident in assessing, monitoring, and reporting on student progress using EHCP targets and individual learning plans (ILPs), ensuring that learning is personalised and progress is effectively tracked.
As part of our commitment to delivering outstanding education, you will lead engaging and accessible Science lessons, designed to stimulate curiosity and support the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of our students. You will use innovative, trauma-informed teaching approaches to make Science meaningful, hands-on, and relevant to learners with a wide range of needs.
In addition to teaching, you will take a lead role in the development of the Science subject across the school, including organising science-focused events and enrichment activities that celebrate student achievement and promote a love of learning beyond the classroom.
