Science Technician - AA:AE:5173

This is a permanent Part Time Position: Between 20 - 30 hours per week over 39 weeks per year, to be discussed at interview.

Grade 4 - \xc2\xa321,189 - \xc2\xa321,968 pro rata per annum - This is the full time equivalent. (Plus the pending Pay award for 2023/24)

The Governors of St Nicholas Catholic High School wish to recruit an enthusiastic and adaptable Science Technician to provide technical support to enable the effective teaching and learning of science. This position will involve working alongside teaching staff and other School staff to ensure effective and efficient organisation, maintenance and day to day preparation of teaching laboratories, aids, resources and apparatus.

An understanding of the Consortium of Local Education Authorities for the Provision of Science Services (CLEAPPS) guidelines and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) is required to ensure regulations are adhered to at all times. Training will be provided for any unfamiliar areas of work.

The successful candidate will be well organised, have experience of working in a similar role, with the ability and desire to work with, and relate to, young people. A Science background that is Chemistry specific would be an advantage but is not essential.

St Nicholas Catholic High School is a mixed catholic secondary school and sixth form for pupils aged 11-18. It is located in Northwich, Cheshire, and caters for approximately 1,250 pupils.

The school opened as a secondary modern in 1965, becoming a comprehensive school in 1972. It is a voluntary-aided school.
