Aptamer Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scientific Technician to join our innovative Laboratory Team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your scientific skills while contributing to cutting-edge research in aptamer technology.
About the Role
As a Scientific Technician, you will play an integral role within our Lab Team, supporting the Aptamer Selection process and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day laboratory operations. Initially, your focus will be on Protein Selection, with the opportunity to expand into Cell Selection, Characterisation, Small Molecule Selection, and Sequencing as the business grows.
What You'll Be Doing
Contribute to all aspects of the Aptamer Selection process in line with departmental SOPs and work instructions
Produce high-quality, reliable data with minimal errors
Plan and organise your workload effectively with support from Senior Scientists and team leaders.
Maintain laboratory stocks, reagents, cleanliness, and equipment
Ensure compliance with all Quality and Health & Safety standards
Support project transfer between teams through clear documentation and communication
Work collaboratively across the lab to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Contribute to a continuous improvement culture by identifying opportunities to enhance processes
Maintain excellent documentation in line with ALCOA+ principles
Keep training records and timesheets up to date to track competency and project time

Essential Skills & Experience:
A solid understanding of GxP principles and the confidence to uphold quality standards
A strong sense of integrity and attention to detail
Motivation to learn and expand your scientific expertise
A broad understanding of research and molecular biology techniques such as:
Gel electrophoresis* PCR/RT-PCR/qPCR* ELISA* BLI* Cell culture (experience in all areas not essential)* Excellent organisation and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to learn and operate complex laboratory equipment following training
Effective teamworking and time management skills
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Experience working with proteins, cells, and DNA/RNA
Previous experience in an ISO 9001 or GxP environment (e.g. industrial placement)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline
