Why this role is important for CPI's work
CPI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist to join its dynamic, analytical team within the national biologics manufacturing centre in Darlington to support cutting-edge biopharmaceutical innovation across platforms including mRNA vaccines, AAV vectors, monoclonal antibodies, and recombinant proteins.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects such as Fortuna 5 (AAV) and Electra (protein), applying analytical expertise to characterise complex biologics and support process development. It is also offers the chance to work across a variety of analytical techniques, some of which may include: high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC/HPLC), mass spectrometry, capillary isoelectric focussing, biolayer interferometry, dynamic light scattering, differential scanning calorimetry, circular dichroism, capillary electrophoresis, ELISA, polymerase chain reaction techniques (qPCR and ddPCR), microfluidic imaging, SEC-MALS and SDS-PAGE.
The Role
Key tasks in the role will include (but are not limited to the below), please download the job description for full details available on the CPI careers page:
Interpreting and reporting on experimental data to internal and external stakeholders
Maintaining GMP and Data Integrity compliance across all analytical activities
Supporting business development through technical input and client engagement
Collaborating across teams to deliver project milestones and continuous improvement
Providing mentoring and training to junior team members
Maintaining and calibrating analytical equipment to ensure operational readiness
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support a variety of projects, where analytical work packages can include:
Designing, verifying, and applying analytical methods for biopharmaceutical characterisation
Monitoring residuals and impurities, to support bioprocess development (e.g. host-cell proteins, residual DNA, RNA, and endotoxins)
Molecule characterisation to Identify critical quality attributes and molecule heterogeneity
Investigate stability (e.g. fragmentation, aggregation, solubility, particle formation)
Accelerated stability/forced degradation studies
+ Understand degradation pathways
+ Develop stability indicating assays
+ Support formulation development
+ Identify critical quality attributes
