Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and qualified

Secondary Maths Tutor

to join our team on a part-time, self-employed basis. You'll work with small groups of students (maximum 3 per session) aged 11-16, helping them build mathematical confidence and achieve excellent results across all exam boards.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging maths tuition to small groups (maximum 3 students) aged 11-16

Plan and prepare tailored curriculum content to meet individual student needs

Assess student progress regularly during testing weeks (every 6-8 weeks)

Prepare students for GCSE exams across all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.)

Build strong relationships with students and parents, providing approachable support

Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance

Collaborate with the team during regular KPI meetings and observations

Use iPads and digital resources effectively to enhance learning

Essential Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

- must hold

Minimum 1 year teaching experience

in secondary mathematics

Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4

Experience preparing students for GCSE examinations

Excellent communication skills with students and parents

Ability to differentiate learning within small group settings

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Commitment to safeguarding policies and training

Desirable Qualities

Experience working in small group or tuition settings

Ability to build confidence in students who may have struggled with maths

Flexible approach to teaching methodologies

Comfortable using technology and digital learning platforms

Passion for helping students achieve their full potential

What We Offer

Competitive hourly rate:

22-30 per hour (depending on experience)

Small group sizes:

Maximum 3 students per session for meaningful impact

Flexible part-time hours:

Primarily evenings (3:40pm-8:20pm Mon-Fri) and Saturday mornings (9am-1:30pm)

Working Hours

Peak times:

Monday-Friday evenings (3:40pm-8:20pm)

Saturday sessions:

9am-1:30pm (as needed)
