Job Overview




The security team supervisor will lead supervise and manage the security team either in the Control Room or Manned guarding aspect, ensuring the smooth operational running of all Bluewater security functions. The supervisor is responsible for delivering the highest quality service, providing a courteous and professional service to guests and to the client. The person should be highly motivated and able to take control of demanding situations in a professional manner. Excellent communication and customer service skills, smart and presentable and able to manage and work well within a team are required. Leadership, problem solving, and decision-making skills are essential for this position



Main Duties




To work as part of the Mitie team upholding their corporate values and standards. To work in conjunction with the Security Management team liaising with clients and senior managers as required. To supervise the operational deployment of Security Officers, CCTV Controllers and Barrier officers as part of the Security team. To ensure that minimum staffing levels are adhered to and that team members maintain an effective work life balance. To deploy resources in the most cost effective and efficient way prioritising incidents and implementing appropriate working practices. Implementing practical and sustainable changes that result in improved security personnel motivation. To manage the day-to-day supervision of the security team, prioritising incidents and deploying resource in the most effective way. To work in conjunction with the Security Manger to meet and exceed site specific KPI's and SLA's. To collate reports, management information and data, to assist with reporting of incidents in line with agreed timescales. To manage own workload and time effectively whilst maintaining knowledge of skills and competency required. To work smart demonstrating a pro-active work ethic, motivating the team spirit and maintaining good morale to ensure the best performance always ensuring levels of motivation are maintained throughout the workforce. To challenge inappropriate, negative and unacceptable behaviour maintain staff confidentiality and upholding and enforcing the Mitie values. To support the team in all aspects of development and training and to ensure that all team members have a current Personal Development Plan (PDP). To support the Management Team in delivering regular team meetings between supervisors and providing key updates when required. To ensure the team is effectively briefed at the commencement of duty and debriefed at the end of any significant event to ensure awareness of any matters pertaining to the smooth effective running of the team and continuous improvement. To manage and maintain key elements of the Control Room by utilising all available technology to ensure total compliance and safety and security of site. To maintain and monitor all emergency systems and to efficiently and efficiently deal with emergencies/evacuations at Bluewater. To have an understanding of data protection in line with GDPR. To effectively liaise with retailers, Guests and Key stakeholders over any security matters or concerns, dealing with complaints initially. To collaboratively work with onsite police in prevention and detection of crime and crime prevention initiatives. To provide Operational knowledge to lead the team to manage the site Security provision To implement and robustly supervise a site patrol strategy to include the following: To ensure the team effectively manage suspect packages being deposited in and around the precinct of the building ensuring established protocols are adhered to for public safety and management reporting. To ensure accurate records of any incident or occurrence are maintained in line with site policies. To participate in management of day-to-day assignments at the discretion of the management team. Conduct any other duties deemed to be appropriate or necessary to the post.

What we are looking for




Must have SIA license in CCTV and Door supervisor Good communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to operate in a pressurised environment. Excellent time management. Attention to detail and proactive. Demonstrable proactive and professional approach to security. Ability to work under own initiative and as a member of a team. Ability to write incident reports to a high standard Previous experience in a Security role. Knowledge of health and safety legislation and policy. Retail Experience preferred but not essential. Experience in completing appraisals on workforce Performance Management Previous experience in a security Supervisor/Team Leader position desirable. Flexible approach to working hours, including working weekends & Bank Holidays * IOSH managing Safel
