Securities Settlement Transformation Manager

Job Description

We are looking to hire a Securities Settlement Transformation Manager to join the team here at CMC Markets. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and oversee the development of CMC's cash and securities settlements processes, with focus on using SWIFT and internal applications to drive automation and control.
Key responsibilities

  • Provide SME support to CMC's Payments/Banking and Settlements/Custody functions, to drive implementation of settlements best practice.
  • Lead the implementation of automated and scalable settlements processes for all new product / business lines, utilising SWIFT as appropriate.
  • Transform the Group's interaction with banks, brokers and custodians, transitioning from file-based settlements to settlement via SWIFT messaging.
  • Drive improvement to the account funding process for the Group's high net worth / institutional client base, ensuring automation wherever possible.
  • Manage and develop the Group's Banking Administration team, responsible for all account opening, closing, static data, access etc.
  • Work closely with the first line Payments, Settlements and Reconciliations teams to ensure a highly automated and frictionless journey from execution date to settlement date, through to reconciliation.
  • Drive improvement to settlements control and oversight, ensuring appropriate exception / failure management process and oversight.
  • Analyse and escalate settlement issues and root cause to reduce recurring breaks and improve straight through processing rates.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and technology upgrades, such as migration to ISO 20022 and adoption of T+1 settlement.
  • Provide SME support to related internal and external audit programmes, including SWIFT Customer Security Programme audit.
  • Ensure adherence to industry best practice and all regulatory and counterparty requirements.
Skills/Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Securities Settlements across international markets
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in SWIFT messaging for cash and securities, including detailed knowledge of SWIFT messaging technical standards
  • Ability to support and engage with senior management and front office staff
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and investigative skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
