About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive

Security Officer & Facilities Porter

to join our team at the historic Guildhall. This dual-role position is vital to ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operation of the premises, supporting Civic functions, various events and the day-to-day activities.

Key Responsibilities

Security Officer Duties:

Maintain the security of the Guildhall and ensure the safety of Councillors, staff, hirers, and visitors. Lock/unlock rooms and entrances, manage alarm systems, and monitor CCTV. Control and manage keys, contractor passes and respond to suspicious activity. Act as First Aider and Fire Warden (training provided if needed). Support Fire Safety Checks, alarm testing and evacuation procedures. Enforce Conditions of Hire and ensure compliance during events, including weddings. Attend official functions and ceremonial occasions, including carrying the Mace and supporting the Mayor.

Facilities Porter Duties:

Set up rooms and move furniture for events based on layout plans. Conduct routine maintenance and basic repairs at the Guildhall (on occasions this will include carrying out work at our Property Assets). Undertake energy-saving checks in the Guildhall. Maintain cleanliness across the Guildhall, including public areas and offices. Occasionally to unlock and lock the public conveniences, check and replace supplies. Manage flags, museum artefacts, and assist with Civil Wedding ceremonies.

Requirements:

Door Supervisor Badge preferred (SIA licence). Security Guard (SIA licence considered). Clear DBS Check. First Aid Level 3 Qualification. Basic knowledge of Health & Safety regulations. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
