Support Worker: In-Home Domiciliary Care for a young man with Autism and a Learning Disability with behaviors that challenge

Shifts: 7am - 9pm - Hockwold - IP26

ABAEL Care is seeking committed Support Workers to support a young man with autism, epilepsy, severe learning disabilities, and behaviours that challenge, living independently in his own home in Hockwold.

This role focuses on providing day time care and support, including accompanying the person on leisure activities, supporting with personal care, medication administration. You'll be creating a safe, happy, structured, and calm environment, encouraging independence as well as delivering personalised care in line with the individual's unique needs and preferences.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting on leisure activities Promote independence in daily living skills Provide high-quality, person-centred support Assist with personal care, including washing, dressing for bed, toileting. Administer and record medication in line with care plans and medication protocols. Support with epilepsy monitoring, including responding appropriately to seizures (if required) and ensuring safety at all times. Record and report any changes in health, behaviour, or wellbeing, and complete all relevant documentation. Ensure the environment remains calm, safe, and supportive Adhere strictly to all safeguarding and confidentiality protocols.
We're looking for individuals who are:

Comfortable working with individuals with complex needs, including autism, epilepsy, and behaviours that may challenge. Compassionate, calm, and resilient, especially during challenging situations. Able to work independently, but also follow detailed support plans and collaborate with the wider team. Committed to promoting dignity, choice, and independence. Physically and emotionally able to support someone with severe learning disabilities Reliable and trustworthy
Essential Requirements

Must have robust experience working as a support worker with behaviors that challenge Must be able to drive due to rural location and lone working. Must have right to work in the UK (no sponsorship provided) Must be over 25 years old for driving insurance purposes. Must be able to drive a manual car
Desirable Experience

Knowledge and understanding of autism, epilepsy management, and challenging behaviour. Trained in medication administration, epilepsy awareness, and positive behaviour support (PBS)
Training and Support

Full induction training and ongoing professional development provided, including:

Autism and LD Awareness Medication Administration Epilepsy Awareness and Buccl Administration Safeguarding Adults First Aid and Health & Safety Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
