We're a growing, fully regulated online pharmacy delivering prescriptions across the UK. With patient safety, convenience, and innovation at our core, we are scaling fast -- and as part of this growth, we're excited to recruit our first in-house Bookkeeper to bring our finance operations in-house and support our clinical and management teams.
The Role:
As our first dedicated Bookkeeper, you'll have a key role in shaping our internal finance systems. You'll manage day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, and assist in setting up reporting workflows, working closely with our directors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to input into building the finance operations for a growing healthcare company. It offers the chance to grow with the business and shape your own role.
This is initially a part-time role of 1-2 days per week, with the possibility of more hours as the scope of the role becomes embedded.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and manage our internal bookkeeping systems (e.g. Xero or similar)
Record daily transactions, reconcile bank accounts and manage cashflow
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including pharmacy supplier payments
Process monthly payroll (PAYE, pensions, RTI submissions)
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with Making Tax Digital (MTD)
Liaise with our external accountant and support year-end activities
Help design and improve internal reporting processes for management insight
Ensure all records meet HMRC and healthcare compliance standards
What we're looking for:
AAT Level 3 or 4 qualified (or equivalent)
2+ years' experience in a bookkeeping role
Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, or similar cloud software
Experience with payroll, pensions, and HMRC submissions
Strong understanding of VAT, MTD, and general UK tax processes
Comfortable building systems from the ground up
Organised, reliable, and able to work independently
It would be excellent if you also have the following skills/experience:
Experience in a healthcare, retail, or pharmacy setting
Knowledge of NHS payment systems or healthcare suppliers
Familiarity with regulated industries (e.g. GPhC, CQC, HMRC standards)

Pay: 15.00-20.00 per hour
