Self-Employed Electrician

Temporary Contract (Up to 6 Months) - Potential for Ongoing / Full-Time Work

Overview

We are seeking a competent, self-employed Electrician to support an increasing workload across domestic and light commercial projects. This is an initially temporary role (up to 6 months), with the potential for regular ongoing or full-time work for the right individual.

This position is offered on a self-employed / subcontract basis and would suit an electrician who is reliable, organised, and capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.

Responsibilities

Carry out electrical installation, alteration, and remedial works in accordance with BS 7671 Test, inspect, and fault-find electrical systems and circuits Diagnose and rectify electrical faults efficiently and safely Read and work from drawings, specifications, and job instructions Work alongside other trades when required to meet project deadlines Maintain clean, safe, and well-organised working areas Communicate progress, issues, and realistic timeframes clearly Complete basic job records, test results, and certification where required
Requirements

Proven experience working as a qualified electrician Able to work on a self-employed / subcontract basis Must have own hand tools and standard electrical tools Own transport preferred but not essential Sound knowledge of current wiring regulations (BS 7671) Ability to work independently without close supervision Strong attention to detail and a professional, reliable approach Good communication and time-management skills
Desirable (but not essential)

18th Edition qualification Inspection & Testing (2391 or equivalent) ECS / CSCS card Experience in domestic and small commercial environments
