About the Role
We are seeking an engaging, professional Self-Employment & Industry Readiness Tutor to deliver Bhuku's Skill Ninjas programme at HMP Guys Marsh.
This 5-month initiative supports up to 60 learners to explore entrepreneurship, develop business ideas, and gain transferable work skills that prepare them for employment upon release.
The course combines classroom delivery, business planning activities, and peer-supported learning -- providing a foundation for legitimate self-employment or work in a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities
o Deliver structured sessions (Mon-Thurs) on self-employment, business start-up, and transferable employability skills.
o Support learners in developing personal Business Start-Up Plans and confidence in key skills such as finance, marketing, and communication.
o Provide 1:1 guidance and feedback sessions every Friday, including in-cell visits where needed.
o Adapt teaching to meet diverse learner needs, including low literacy, ESOL, and neurodiverse participants.
o Work closely with the Learning & Skills Manager, peer mentors, and Bhuku's internal management team to ensure consistent delivery.
o Maintain accurate learner records, attendance data, and progress updates for monthly reporting.
o Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment.
o Ensure all teaching complies with prison security, safeguarding, and equality requirements.

About You
You will be a confident, organised, and adaptable tutor with a passion for empowering others.
The ideal candidate will have:
o Experience delivering employability, business, or vocational training (classroom or community-based).
o Strong communication and coaching skills.
o The ability to motivate and engage adults with varied learning needs.
o Understanding of working within secure or regulated environments (training provided).
o Knowledge of entrepreneurship, small business start-up, or vocational education.
o Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and trauma-informed practice.
Desirable:
o Experience teaching or mentoring in prisons or justice settings.
o Qualification in teaching, training, or assessing (PTLLS, AET, or equivalent).
o Basic business or enterprise qualification, or practical experience in self-employment.
