Humly are working with a secure unit in Morpeth who are looking for a Cover Supervisor to work in this extremely unique environment. The provision caters for 12 students aged between 11 and 18 and is a residential children's home for children with severe SEMH.

The role is to work in their education setting, where your role will be to offer teachers relief and support where needed, managing the students whilst they stay on task. The children are in classes of 4 and in each classroom there will be 2 adults. The ideal person should be resilient and have a calm demeanour coupled with a good sense of humour. They should also be empathetic.

For the right person this could be an amazing opportunity with a passionate headteacher and cohesive team. The working hours are 8.30 to 4.10, Monday to Friday and the ideal Educator will have a Driving Licence. You will have a morning break, 1 hour for lunch and then an afternoon break. Due to the nature of the role in a residential SEMH setting, as a Genuine Occupational Requirement, you must be over 23 years old as legally required for this type of residential care environment. Responsibilities



Supervise and manage classroom activities in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a safe and productive environment Implement lesson plans as provided, adapting them as necessary to meet the needs of all students Support students with special educational needs, including those with disabilities and autism, to ensure their full participation in lessons Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social and emotional development Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and promoting good behaviour among students Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise Provide tutoring or mentoring support to individual students or small groups as needed Engage in creative writing activities to stimulate students' imagination and enhance their literacy skills

Requirements



Experience working with children in an educational setting is essential Background or training in special education is highly desirable Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being able to take initiative when required Experience in tutoring or mentoring roles is an advantage A passion for supporting children's learning and development, particularly those with disabilities or autism Creativity in lesson delivery and engagement strategies to inspire students' interest in learning
