Semi Senior Accountant

A modern, tech-driven accountancy firm in Crawley is looking for a confident and capable Semi Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key position with real autonomy, flexibility, and room to grow.
The role would be split between 70% bookkeeping/VAT returns and 30% accounts and tax compliance.
Key responsibilities:

• Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients (sole traders, partnerships, limited companies)
• Process purchase and sales invoices using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Dext and Hubdoc
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan balances weekly and monthly
• Submit VAT returns (Standard, Flat Rate, Cash Accounting), ensuring MTD compliance
• Handle monthly & quarterly PAYE/CIS reconciliations
• Prepare accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset registers
• Liaise with clients to chase missing information and ensure timely bookkeeping
• Assist with year-end preparation and liaise with external accountants
• Support the wider team on accounts preparation and tax preparation.
• Lead MTD ITSA readiness from April 2026
