Strachan & Kemp Facilities Services operates as the core facilities management business within the SK Group, delivering integrated hard and soft FM services to a diverse commercial client base across Scotland and the wider UK.

Over recent years, the business has evolved significantly, with continued growth in our client portfolio, expansion of our directly employed workforce, and an increased focus on self-delivery, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and structured service delivery. We have invested heavily in digital infrastructure and operate a fully integrated Simpro CAFM platform to manage PPM schedules, reactive works, and reporting.

We operate across a varied estate including commercial offices, retail, leisure, industrial, and managed properties, supporting clients through long-term maintenance contracts as well as reactive and project-based works.

About the Role

This is a hands-on operational role with a strong focus on roofing, access, and working at height activities, supporting planned maintenance, reactive works, and project delivery across Scotland and the North East of England.

Working as part of our specialist delivery teams, you will support a range of roofing and external maintenance works, including roof inspections, minor repairs, guttering, and access-related tasks. You will also regularly work alongside other in-house trades and operational teams, supporting a wider range of facilities and property maintenance activities as required.

One day you may be supporting planned roofing or refurbishment works, and another assisting reactive call-outs or inspections. You will regularly work alongside our specialist access teams, including supporting operations involving truck-mounted cherry pickers, MEWPs, and other access equipment, as well as assisting with associated external maintenance works and wider site activities. The role offers genuine variety, with no two days the same.

Occasional evening or weekend overtime will be required to meet operational demand and will be paid at the applicable overtime rates.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their skills in roofing, access, and working at height disciplines, while also gaining exposure to other trades within a multi-disciplinary facilities management environment

About You

We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and practical individual with a positive, can-do attitude and strong hands-on skills, particularly in roofing or working at height environments. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider, multi-skilled team, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service.

Previous experience in roofing, external maintenance, construction, or facilities-based environments is essential, along with a willingness to develop further skills and qualifications related to working at height and broader FM service delivery.

Requirements

Essential

Full, clean UK driving licence Previous experience in roofing, external maintenance, or working at height environments Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety, particularly working at height regulations Comfortable working at height and in external environments Strong customer-facing and communication skills Basic IT and administrative skills Organised, punctual, reliable, and flexible Good level of physical fitness Right to work in the UK

Desirable

CSCS Card Working at Height training IPAF and/or PASMA Asbestos Awareness Confined Spaces training Any additional roofing, access, or trade-related qualifications Current PVG certificate or willingness to apply
