Equans is looking for a Semi Skilled Operative (M&E) to be based at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, based on a shift pattern that includes days, evenings and weekends. On offer is a salary banding of 27,000 - 28,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience, a fixed monthly unsocial allowance and benefits package.



You'll play a key role in delivering essential maintenance services within the Portsmouth Hospital Trust, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.




What will you deliver:




Support the Estates Management team in providing a 24/7 maintenance service. Promote a strong culture of customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Liaise with hospital departments regarding maintenance requirements. Diagnose faults, repair, and maintain complex hospital equipment (following training and guidance). Work flexibly across trades where required. Respond promptly using a radio or pager system. Carry out tasks in challenging conditions (e.g., unblocking drains/sewers, dealing with biological hazards and fumes). Replace lamps, clean light fittings, and undertake cleaning, labouring, and driving tasks as directed. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH, Electrical IEE regulations, HTMs, etc.). Perform other reasonable duties relevant to the post.

Who are we looking for?




NVQ in maintenance or similar equivalent experience Building maintenance and systems Basic competence with IT and PDA's Working in a hospital environment (Desirable) Knowledge of other trades (Desirable) Knowledge of HTM's (Desirable)
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
