12.21 per hour.

Location:

Multiple sites - depending on the needs of the Company and its clients.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exemptions) Order 1986 and the Home Office procedures on disclosures of information concerning convictions also applies.

Prior to employment with Serenity Housing Support, we will require confirmation that your national insurance number is correct, that you are permitted to work in the United Kingdom and to see original certificates for all qualifications referred to in your application from (if appropriate).

Job Purpose / Role:



To deliver a highly effective supported living service to Young People (YP) aged 16 to 25.

To enable Young People to gain the knowledge, experience and opportunities to take control and of their daily life and to ensure they are supported to build confidence, develop resilience and raise aspirations and abilities in line with their Pathway Plans and Risk Assessments.

To comply with Serenity Housing Support Limited Policies and Procedures.

Develop and create Pathway Plans with Young People.

Support colleagues and Managers with day-to-day running of the House.

Roles and Responsibilities



Induct Young People on admission, explaining house rules and welcome pack.

Continually assess Young Persons needs and work with colleagues and Managers to revise support plans in line with Young Person's changing needs and abilities.

Provide a positive, welcoming and stimulating environment for Young People, leading by example in encouraging them to carry out day-to-day duties.

Be a point of contact for Young People to feel able to discuss ideas and keep them updated on actions.

With the Young People's agreement, act on their behalf when appropriate.

Promote, acknowledge and respect the privacy, dignity, diversity, rights and responsibilities of Young People to enable them to meet their goals and aspirations and to build and maintain their self-worth and individuality.

Liaise with Senior Support Worker to make recommendations on how support can be adjusted to promote independence.

Identify development areas for Young People to enable their independence and be innovative in coming up with methods to support these.

Apply relevant non-aversive de-escalation / distraction techniques to effectively diffuse problems.

Apply the correct protocol, immediately, upon any suspicion, evidence or allegation of any concern in relation to Child Protection and Safeguarding in accordance with Serenity Housing Support's Policies and Procedures.

Respect and enforce professional boundaries and communicate professionally with Young People, Colleagues, Managers, Professionals and Agencies.

Ensure general up keep of the house is to a high standard by reporting maintenance issues as needed in line with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Ensure that Gas and / or Electric "Pay as You Go" meters always have sufficient credit.

Implement support plans and ensure completion of key documents and files as necessary in individual files.

Keep up-to-date contemporaneous notes.

Communicate effectively with staff and Young People to ensure activities are proceeding, to deliver the support plans, ensuring staff and Young People are aware of the information needed to complete tasks successfully.

Produce reports and correspondence to a high professional standard.

Liaise with Professionals/Carers as necessary and attend professional meetings as required.

Ensure all concerns and reasons for them are properly identified and logged using the correct forms and communicated effectively to relevant parties as per Policies and Procedures.

Support colleagues and new team members and ensure they are aware of current legal, professional and administrative practices and procedures that apply.

Attend staff meetings, Supervision and Peer-Supervision as needed.

Attend all mandatory Training and to keep your Continuing Personal Development and training up-to-date.

Identify and request relevant training and development through supervision.

Cover any gaps on shift or provide a second person on duty, until relief staff can be secured.

Ensure staff room privacy is protected and to not allow Young People into the staff room for any reason.

Assist in the day-to-day management of petty cash system.

Support colleagues and Managers with day-to-day running of the House.

Assist with general administration duties.

Any other reasonable task as requested by your Senior Support Worker/Service Manager or Management team.

Support Worker will report to Service Manager and in their absence, this will be covered by Senior Support Worker. Daily activities can be addressed with the Senior Support Worker.

This is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities of this post. The post holder may be required to carry out any other duties as directed by a Supervising Officer; the responsibility level of any other duties should not exceed those outlined above.

All staff are expected to maintain high standards of customer care in the context of the Serenity Housing Support Limited Core Values, to uphold the Equal Opportunities Policy and Health and Safety standards, and to participate in training activities necessary to their post.

Support Workers must have the following:



Have a history of supporting Young People, preferably in Supported Accommodation.

Be IT literate and have knowledge of Windows Packages including email.

Level One Maths.

Level One English.

Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and revised edition 2004.

Knowledge of the Leaving Care Act 2000.

Knowledge of safeguarding issues and working in partnership.

Knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 and revised edition 2020.

Knowledge of Every Child Matters.

Knowledge of the Education Act.

Knowledge of Change for Children Agenda.
