We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Semi-Skilled Toolmaker / Shop Floor Labourer to support daily workshop operations.
This role primarily involves bending and fitting of fabricated tools, assisting with toolmaking activities, operating basic machinery when needed, and carrying out general shop floor duties to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient production.
This position is ideal for someone with practical mechanical aptitude who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and is keen to develop their skills.
Key Responsibilities
Toolmaking & Production Support
Bending & Fitting
Assist qualified toolmakers with the manufacture, assembly, repair, and maintenance of tools, jigs, fixtures, and dies
Carry out basic machining operations
Polishing, deburring and cleaning of manufactured parts
Assembling and wrapping of tools
Load and unload machines and assist during setups
Measure and check components using basic measuring equipment (verniers, calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Shop Floor & General Duties
Perform general labouring duties across the workshop as required
Handle materials, components, and finished products safely
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas
Assist with stock handling, tool storage, and basic inventory tasks
Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures at all times
Skills & Experience
Desirable:
Basic mechanical or technical aptitude
Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools
Willingness to learn and take instruction
Good attention to detail and safety awareness
Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
Exposure to toolmaking, machining, or metal fabrication
Ability to read basic technical drawings
Experience with workshop machinery
