Job Title: SEN Mentor - Emotional Regulation Support
About the Role
We are seeking a warm, patient and reflective mentor to provide one-to-one support for a Year 4 learner within a primary school in the Gunthorpe/Werrington area of Peterborough.
The learner requires consistent, relationship-based mentoring to help with emotional regulation, attachment and behaviour linked to trauma.
The focus will be on helping the learner understand thoughts, feelings and emotions, developing coping strategies and promoting positive self-esteem.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent one-to-one mentoring sessions (1 hour per day, 5 hours per week)
Support the learner to identify and manage emotions in a calm and reflective way
Use a therapeutic approach to build trust, resilience and coping strategies
Work collaboratively with the school and family support services involved
Keep brief records to support progress reviews and communication with the wider team
Requirements
Experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma or attachment needs
Understanding of emotional regulation and behaviour as communication
Ability to create a safe and trusting mentoring relationship
Background in education, youth work, counselling, or therapy is desirable
Must be reliable, professional and available during school hours
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred

Hours: 5 hours per week (1 hour per day during school hours)
Location: Primary school in the Peterborough (PE4) area
Pay Rate: 18-25 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Part-time
