For some children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, attending school can feel impossible. Overwhelming classrooms, limited resources, and a lack of personalised support can result in them becoming disengaged or unable to attend entirely.
That's where you come in. The
Reconnect Programme
is looking for passionate, experienced individuals to work directly with these young people--offering them meaningful, engaging enrichment experiences outside of the traditional school setting.
About the Role
As a
SEN Support Worker
, you will plan and deliver bespoke activity-based sessions in the community, helping children to build confidence, connection, and independence through enrichment.
You will work with students on a
1:1 or 2:1 basis
, supported by our team to deliver a programme of activities tailored to each individual's needs and interests. Sessions take place during school hours, and happen between 2-5 times per week, during term-time only.
Key Responsibilities
Curate and deliver a varied list of off-site activities tailored to student interests
Support children and young people with SEN/SEMH on 1:1 or 2:1 basis
Build trusting, consistent relationships to foster personal growth and reintegration readiness
Liaise with families, schools, and our internal team to ensure a joined-up approach
Maintain clear, accurate session records and risk assessments
Manage time efficiently and ensure reliable transport and punctuality
What You'll Need
Experience
supporting vulnerable children or young people with SEN and SEMH needs
Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality, child-centred sessions
Enhanced DBS check
(essential) - must be current or willing to obtain
Full UK driving licence
and access to a vehicle (essential)
Availability to commit to a
minimum of 15 hours per week
Strong timekeeping, organisational, and communication skills
Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and a commitment to child safety
