Type: Bank. Zero hours contract to suit your flexibility. (Term time only)
Location: Seashell Royal School Manchester Cheadle Hulme, SK8 6RQ
Salary: 13.68 per hour (including holiday pay)
Here at Seashell we provide education and care for children and young people with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairments, communication disorders and autism.
Our site is part way through an amazing transformation with state of the art facilities being built. Following the construction of a residential village of 17 care homes in 2015 and a world class school that opened in February 2023, we are embarking on the next phase of our development with a new college and inclusive sports and wellbeing facilities, set to be delivered in 2026.
We are excited to be recruiting talented Teaching Assistants for our Ofsted Outstanding Royal School Manchester to join our bank of staff providing cover to the full time TA team on site.
In this flexible role you will be supporting pupils aged 2 to 19 years old, working on a one-to-one basis with their day to day learning, and providing any other support they may required throughout the day - including assisting with personal care, communication and leisure activities. You will also assist the Class Teachers with the planning and preparation of resources and programmes for the individual needs of the learners in a designated class/group.
Some students may present challenging behaviour, whilst some may require support from mobility aids and disability aids including hoists and wheelchairs. Similar experience is therefore highly advantageous and even though training is provided you must be comfortable working in this type of environment.
To be successful in the role you'll therefore need:
Experience within a care or education workplace setting
First-hand experience of working with children and/or young adults with either complex needs, learning disabilities, sensory impairments or autistic spectrum conditions
Experience of supporting either children or young people with challenging behaviour
Enthusiasm, determination and resilience
Empathy and self-awareness
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues
These can also be physically demanding roles with a requirement to keep up with some of our more active students who may like to run, use our adapted bikes and go in the swimming pool - therefore you must be physically able to meet these requirements.
What we can offer you:
Use of our on-site gym, fitness classes, and state of the art swimming pool
Paid Enhanced DBS
Multiple retail, food and leisure discounts
Free on-site parking
Summer and Winter events
Please be aware that Seashell can't offer Sponsorship at this time.
How to apply
Please upload your CV to apply. As part of our safer recruitment policy, you will be asked to complete a Compliance Application Form, and successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check (no cost), and full references will be taken.
