What You'll Do as a 1:1 Down Syndrome Support Assistant:
Work closely with a student with
Down syndrome
, providing
1:1 support
.
Adapt
learning activities
to meet the student's
individual needs
.
Assist with
daily tasks
and ensure the student is fully integrated into class activities.
Support the student in developing their
social
and
emotional skills
.
Work with the
class teacher
and other staff to ensure the student's
educational needs
are met.
What We're Looking For:
Experience working with children with
Down syndrome
or similar learning needs.
Someone with a
thick skin
who is able to manage
challenging behaviours
and respond sensitively.
Ability to
adapt work
for a student at a lower academic level, with
patience
and
creativity
.
A
positive attitude
and
resilience
in the face of occasional challenging situations.
Strong
interpersonal skills
, with the ability to support a child's
social
and
emotional development
.
Enhanced DBS clearance
(or willingness to obtain one).
