We are seeking a patient, proactive and dedicated
SEN Teaching Assistant
to join a forward-thinking and inclusive school in
London
. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, and more complex learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide
1:1 or small group support
for pupils with SEN, both in and out of the classroom
Implement strategies and interventions under the guidance of the SENCo and class teacher
Adapt resources and learning materials to suit individual learning styles
Use supportive communication methods such as
Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, or sensory tools
where appropriate
Foster a nurturing, safe and inclusive environment to support emotional well-being and positive behaviour
Support the development of independence, social skills and engagement in learning
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to track and report progress
Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required, always respecting pupils' dignity and independence
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working with children or young people with a range of
SEN
, ideally within a school or specialist setting
Be confident and resilient, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
Show initiative and flexibility when responding to individual needs
Possess strong communication skills and a genuine passion for inclusive education
Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Hold relevant training or qualifications such as
Team Teach
,
manual handling
, or
Autism Awareness
(desirable but not essential)
A
Level 2 or 3 qualification
in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Childcare, or a related field is desirable but not required if the experience is strong
