A lovely primary school in Haringey is seeking a dedicated

1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

to support

one child

on an individual basis.

The Role


In this SEN Teaching Assistant position, you will provide 1:1 support to a

Year 1 child with Autism who is currently non-verbal

. The child requires consistent communication support, the use of

Makaton

, and a structured, visual approach to learning.


Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the child to access the curriculum Using Makaton and visual communication tools (visual timetables, now/next boards) Helping the child regulate emotions and engage positively with peers Providing calm, predictable routines throughout the school day Supporting the child both in class and during specialist intervention sessions

The school is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant with:

Experience supporting children with Autism Experience working with

non-verbal pupils

, including the use of

Makaton

Familiarity with visual communication tools A calm, clear communication style Confident behaviour management and firm, consistent boundaries

This position is

full-time

, starting

ASAP

, on an ongoing contract until

July 2025
