Are you looking to truly make a difference? Join our dedicated team and help transform the lives of young people every day.
At Pivot we believe children deserve better. In our academies we teach and support children and young people from Key Stages 2 - 5 who have been excluded from school, for whom mainstream education is simply not working, or those with an EHCP who require a specialist placement. Every day our teams do incredible work, making a huge difference to some complex and challenging children, many of whom come to us with traumatic backgrounds.
The Pivot Academy Kirklees offers a therapeutic nurture provision for learners with complex social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) and other associated needs. We recognise each of our learners as unique with different experiences and offer a pathway to reflect their individual needs and support success.
Due to our growth, we are currently seeking a number of enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistants (also known as Learning and Behaviour Mentors) to support our young people. We are looking for candidates who have experience of working with secondary aged learners with SEMH needs, who can engage and inspire.
Our Teaching Assistants play a key role in addressing the barriers to learning for our young people, supporting in the classroom, this role enables our learners to achieve their full potential. Through innovative, creative and professional practice, you will be able to engage our young people and inspire them to learn new skills and develop their self-esteem. Although this area can be challenging, we can offer the right candidate a supportive and fun working environment. We're not looking for perfection -- just passion, perseverance, and a genuine drive to help young people thrive.
Candidates with a specialism in working with young people with autism are preferred, but this is not essential, as we have a number of classroom support roles and 1:1 roles available.
Working at Pivot will give you a real chance to change our learner's lives and we truly believe you will find working here a rewarding experience.
You will find the job description and application form on our website www.pivot-group.uk/current-vacancies.
Closing Date: 31 August 2025
We do encourage you to submit your application form as soon as possible, as we reserve the right to change the closing date for a vacancy and interview before the advertised closing date.
We are committed to safeguarding our young people and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check and appropriate referencing.
During the shortlisting process, Pivot will carry out an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of its due diligence.
