Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with
Autism
and high-level
SEN
needs across
Primary
or
Secondary
classes, depending on assignment
Support small group work under the guidance of the class teacher to reinforce learning and improve social skills
Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans designed for each child
Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment within the
Specialist School
Assist pupils with personal care and sensory needs as required
Encourage and model appropriate behaviour using positive reinforcement and consistent behaviour management strategies
Liaise with class teachers and other
SEN Teaching Assistants
to provide continuous feedback on pupil progress
Contribute to classroom displays and learning resources to support engagement and understanding for students with
Autism
Participate in training and professional development sessions offered by the
Specialist School
Supervise and support pupils during break and lunch times, ensuring safe and positive interactions
Maintain accurate records of support provided and behaviours observed, as directed by the teacher or SENCO
Adapt learning materials and activities to suit the developmental stage and needs of each child in both
Primary
and
Secondary
classrooms
Communicate effectively and sensitively with parents, carers, and external professionals regarding student progress and needs
Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures diligently throughout the school day
