Job Description

Synergy Care and Education are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEND teaching assistant to join our team for a long term role in a special needs school based in Penzance.

This role is start ASAP till end of term then the ideal teaching assistant will be booked to go back to the school in September.

Responsibilities

Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure continuity in learning. Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a respectful and productive environment. Engage students in learning activities and encourage participation. Provide support to students with varying needs, including those with special educational requirements. Supervise students during breaks and transitions between classes. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as necessary. Report any issues or incidents to the appropriate school personnel.

Qualifications

A valid teaching qualification or relevant experience in an educational setting is preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with students of all ages. Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude towards teaching and learning. Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively. A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all students. Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required prior to employment. Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
