SEN Teaching Assistant Permanent

Hours: 30.25 per week, term time only

Start date: 3 November 2025 or ASAP


Valley School is an outstanding special school which caters for nursery and primary aged pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties as well as complex learning difficulties.


We wish to appoint a teaching assistant who is:


child-centered in their approach

sensitive and patient in their dealings with children who have significant special needs and who may, at times, present behaviours that challenge

knowledgeable about, or interested in, working with children who have autism and or profound and complex learning and physical difficulties including complex health needs

flexible, versatile, positive and calm

committed to their own training and development



This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.


We have a very low turnover of teaching assistants and when people do leave us it is often for retirement or for career progression including teaching or therapy posts.


The successful applicant's appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.


The successful candidate will be based in a class with approximately 8 pupils.


High quality ongoing training is provided within school for all staff.
