We are a dedicated education recruitment agency working in partnership with schools across Newport who are seeking committed Teaching Assistants and Support Staff to join inclusive and nurturing SEN settings from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant or Support Worker, you'll be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including
Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), Speech & Language Difficulties
, and
Complex Learning Needs
. You'll be working alongside experienced staff in
special schools and alternative provision units
, offering vital academic and emotional support that enables pupils to thrive.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Providing 1:1 or small group support inside and outside the classroom
Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and sensory needs
Assisting teachers in delivering a differentiated curriculum
Helping create a safe, calm, and engaging learning environment
Supporting with personal care and mobility, where necessary
Monitoring progress and contributing to pupil support plans
We're Looking For:
Experience working with children or young people with SEN (in school, care, youth work, or related settings)
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
A proactive attitude and willingness to work flexibly
Resilience and emotional maturity, particularly when managing challenging behaviour
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils
Desirable (but not essential):
Team Teach or other de-escalation training
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or TEACCH approaches
A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN
