We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). The SENCO will play a crucial role in supporting children with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate care and education tailored to their individual requirements. This position involves collaborating with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters the development of all children, particularly those with additional needs.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with special educational needs.
Collaborate with teachers to adapt the curriculum and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
Provide guidance and support in behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour in the classroom.
Educate staff on best practices for supporting children with special educational needs, including applied behaviour analysis techniques.
Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
Conduct assessments to identify children's needs and monitor their progress regularly.
Facilitate training sessions for staff on topics related to special educational needs and inclusive practices.
Support the integration of children into mainstream classes while providing necessary assistance in preschool or toddler care settings.
Requirements
Experience in teaching physical education or working within a preschool environment is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and experience working with children who have special educational needs.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis principles is an advantage.
Ability to educate and inspire children while fostering a nurturing environment that promotes learning and development.
Experience in childcare settings, particularly with toddlers, is beneficial.
