We are seeking experienced and motivated SENCOs to join a range of schools across London. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a pivotal leadership position, ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the tailored support they need to achieve their full potential.
As SENCO, you will be a key member of the school leadership team. You will lead on all aspects of SEND provision, from strategic planning to day-to-day support, working collaboratively with staff, parents, carers, and external professionals. Your role will be both proactive and hands-on -- identifying needs, coordinating interventions, monitoring progress, and ensuring that provision is inclusive and impactful.
You will also champion an inclusive culture within the school, providing advice, guidance, and training for colleagues so that SEND pupils are fully integrated into every aspect of school life. This is a role where you can directly shape outcomes, influence whole-school practice, and make a real difference to children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic development of SEND provision in line with the school's vision and statutory requirements.
Oversee the identification, assessment, and monitoring of pupils with SEND, ensuring early and accurate intervention.
Develop and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and ensure compliance with all statutory processes and deadlines.
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate tailored interventions and targeted support, monitoring their effectiveness.
Provide professional guidance to staff on best practice in SEND teaching and learning.
Design and deliver training to raise awareness and strengthen SEND provision across the school.
Line manage and support Teaching Assistants or Inclusion staff, helping to build capacity within the team.
Act as the key point of contact for external agencies, educational psychologists, therapists, and other professionals.
Build strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring clear communication and collaborative working.
Monitor data and track progress of SEND pupils, reporting to senior leaders and governors as required.
Promote an inclusive ethos across the school, ensuring SEND provision is embedded in all areas of teaching and learning.
About You
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
NASENCO qualification (or commitment to completing it) is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for children with SEND.
