Job Purpose



To lead and manage the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision within the setting, ensuring the early identification of needs, the implementation of effective support strategies, and the promotion of inclusive learning environments. The SENCO will work collaboratively with staff to build capacity through training and guidance, engage parents and carers as key partners, and liaise effectively with external agencies. This role upholds MiChild's commitment to high-quality, inclusive practice and complies with the SEND Code of Practice

About the Role




An exciting opportunity has arisen within the MiChild group. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Level 3 qualified Nursery Practitioner who will assume the role of Early Years Special Educational Needs Coordinator at our beautiful Teddies Nursery in Oldham


This role is for 30 hours per week (Monday-Friday 9.00am to 3.00pm)


The Early Years SENCO role is for a Level 3 or above practitioner. This role ensures the best possible educational outcomes are achieved for children with special educational needs and disabilities. The Early Years SENCO role involves four key themes below:


ensuring all practitioners in the setting understand their responsibilities to children with SEN and the setting's approach to identifying and meeting SEN

advising and supporting colleagues

ensuring parents are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform action taken by the setting, and liaising with professionals or agencies beyond the setting


About Teddies Day Nursery



Teddies Day Nursery, proudly rated "Good" by Ofsted, has a capacity of 56 children and has been part of the MiChild family since March 2020. Nestled within the Royal Oldham Hospital grounds, we serve both NHS and local families with dedication and warmth. Our nursery boasts four spacious, light-filled playrooms and a large enclosed outdoor area that inspires imaginative exploration, independence, and safe risk-taking. We champion the belief that there's no such thing as bad weather--only unsuitable clothing!

What We're Looking For:



Hold a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (UK recognised)
Demonstrates a robust safeguarding knowledge and awareness Has a detailed understanding of the requirements set by Ofsted Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience of working with children and families
Previous SENCO experience in nursery environment (Desirable)
