Inclusion Starts with You. Are You Ready to Make a Difference?
At Avon Valley Nursery, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated. We are searching for a compassionate and motivated SENCo to lead our inclusive approach and help us nurture a space where every child can flourish - no matter their starting point.
This is more than a job - it's a calling to champion children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and to support the people who care for them every day.
What You'll Do:
As our SENCo, you will be the beating heart of our inclusive ethos - guiding, supporting, and advocating for children, families, and practitioners. Your responsibilities will include:
Embedding inclusive practice into everything we do, from daily routines to strategic planning.
Empowering our team to identify, understand, and respond to the needs of children with SEND.
Ensuring early intervention through clear, sensitive observation and documentation.
Offering hands-on guidance to key persons as they create and deliver meaningful Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Working in partnership with parents, carers, and external professionals to build strong support networks around each child.
Leading review meetings and keeping communication honest, warm, and proactive.
Supporting staff through ongoing training, mentoring, and a shared learning culture.
Maintaining accurate, confidential records and upholding all relevant policies, including safeguarding and health & safety.
Working Pattern:
This is a full-time position of
38 to 40 hours per week, worked across 4 days
, giving you the opportunity for a better work-life balance while making a lasting impact.
What We're Looking For:
Experience in early years education, particularly supporting children with additional needs.
Level 3 in Early Years and Level 3 SENCo Award qualifications.
An in-depth understanding of inclusive practice, child development, and the SEND Code of Practice.
A naturally collaborative spirit - you're just as confident working with colleagues as you are talking with families or external professionals.
A passion for turning challenges into opportunities and a belief that no child is ever too small to shine.
