Location: Beck Row (near Mildenhall, Suffolk)

Hours: 10 hours per week in the SENCO role. These can be spread out throughout the week at your convenience. (Other hours may be available throughout the week working in the classrooms should you wish to work additional hours)

We are looking for a dedicated SENCO to lead our SEND provision, working in close partnership with staff, families, and external professionals.

We are open from 6.45am - 6.00pm - Monday to Friday, all year round and have wonderful facilities for the children, some of which include:-

- An indoor heated swimming pool

- 2 forest school areas

- 5 classrooms

- An out of school club for primary school aged children

- Extensive outdoor play area

Job Summary


The Special Needs Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting children with special needs and their families. This position involves advocating for the rights and needs of children, providing guidance to parents, and collaborating with educational institutions to ensure that children receive the appropriate resources and support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in early childhood education, special education, or related fields, along with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping children thrive.

Duties



As our SENCO you will:

Be qualified to level 3 or above in Early Years, with a SENCO qualification Take the lead role in coordinating SEND provision across the nursery Advocate for the rights of children with special needs within educational settings and the community. Work closely with outside agencies, therapists, and other professionals to develop SEN Support Plans tailored to each child's unique requirements. Provide support and resources to families navigating the special education system. Conduct assessments to identify children's needs in areas such as speech therapy, behaviour management and academic support. Maintain accurate records of interactions with families and progress made by children under advocacy support. Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed about best practices in special education. Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and Early Years Foundation stage requirements

Experience



Proven experience working with children, particularly those with special needs or disabilities. Background in early childhood education or special education is highly desirable. Familiarity with speech therapy techniques, behaviour management strategies, and tutoring methods. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with families, educators, and specialists. Previous roles involving proofreading educational materials or documentation will be considered an asset. This role requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children with special needs.
