Job Description

HS4LC's Skills Bridge programme began in September 2018. Since then, our offer has expanded, and we now offer a range of employment-focussed educational programmes in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council.

We are looking for a part-time tutor to join our team to deliver inspirational functional skills from Pre-Entry to Level 2.

We are committed to increasing opportunities and to reducing barriers for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism and believe that all our learners have the right to be as independent as possible and be able to express their uniqueness through their skills and personalities. We know that this will only enhance and enrich our local community.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our team of dedicated colleagues who share the charity's values and aspirations.

The role involves 8 hours of learner contact per week during term time. We are interested in talking to applicants who would consider a range of contracts-Zero Hours/Part-Time.

-To teach functional skills to a range of learners from Pre-Entry to L2 and enable them to embrace and feel proud of their independence and acheivements.

-Contribute to the development of quality programmes which will enable some learners to achieve qualifications.

-Set and maintain behavioural expectations and follow organisational policy

-Set and monitor learners' progress using the RARPA framework

-Develop and update learning and assessment materials for course delivery.

-Work with the Education Lead and contribute to learner progress reports to EHCP revies

-Keep up to date with subject specific information, changes, and awarding body requirements.

-Attend staff meetings, share good practice and support other team members to bring the best out of learners.

-Carry out any other duties which may be required by the Skills Bridge Lead or Education Lead in accordance with the needs of learners, the service and commensurate with the general level of the position

To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participating in appropriate training activities

Carry out any other duties which may be required by the Skills Bridge Lead in accordance with the needs of the service and commensurate with the general level of the post.

PERSON SPECIFICATION/SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential knowledge and experience:



DET (or equivalent)/PGCE (Level 5)

-At least 2 years experience of teaching functional skills and supporting learners through qualifications

Experience of working with young people with learning disabilities and/or autism

Skills and personal abilities:



Good up-to-date knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject area

To be efficient and dependable

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work as a member of a team, whilst able to use own initiative

To be able to plan effectively

Commitment to providing learning opportunities of the highest quality

Adherence to work with Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and Equality and Diversity guidelines

Self-motivated and well organised, able to produce and retain records

Calm and measured approach under challenging circumstances

This role requires an enhanced with disclosure and barred list check, teaching checks and 5 years of employment references before an offer of employment can be made.
