The Role
We are seeking a
SEND Teaching Assistant
to support students with ASC across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support in structured, visually supported learning environments.
Implement communication strategies such as
PECS
,
Makaton
, and
BSL
to promote independence and engagement.
Support sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing using proactive, low-arousal approaches.
Assist with academic and social development activities tailored to individual needs.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to extend learning beyond the classroom.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with autistic students in a school setting (secondary experience desirable).
Knowledge of communication systems (PECS, Makaton, BSL) and autism-specific strategies.
Patient, adaptable, and proactive individuals who can respond to complex needs.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
