We are seeking a caring, proactive Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in our specialist school setting. You'll play a key role in supporting learning, communication, and personal care, working closely with teachers and therapists to provide a safe, engaging and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with complex learning, sensory and physical needs in class and during daily routines
Assist with communication strategies, sensory activities and access to the curriculum
Provide personal care, including feeding, toileting and mobility support
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff
Promote independence, dignity and well-being for every child
Contribute to pupils' EHCP targets and behaviour support plans
About You
Experience working with children or young people with SEND/PMLD (school or care setting)
Calm, patient and compassionate with a positive attitude
Able to support personal care with respect and professionalism
Good communication and teamwork skills
Willing to undertake relevant training (e.g. manual handling, medical needs)
Desirable
Knowledge of alternative communication (e.g. PECS, Makaton, AAC, Team Teach)
Experience with sensory-based learning or therapeutic approaches
