EduTalent Group are delighted to be recruiting for a committed and enthusiastic Therapy Assistant to join a specialist school in Maidstone. This full-time permanent role offers the chance to work closely with children with special educational needs (SEN) to support their learning, care, and development.
As the Therapy Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the Therapy Lead and alongside the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver interventions and activities that support pupils' individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes. You will play a key role in helping learners develop independence, confidence, and skills for daily life.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils individually or in small groups to achieve their EHCP goals.
Model strategies to teaching staff and assist in embedding therapy approaches within the classroom.
Help create and prepare resources for therapy sessions.
Promote positive behaviour, high self-esteem, and social inclusion among pupils.
Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities and routines tailored to individual needs.
Use ICT to support learning and monitor pupil progress.
Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and other professionals regarding pupil progress and needs.
Contribute to safeguarding, health, and safety procedures, ensuring a safe learning environment.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field
GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at Grade 4 or above
Experience working with children or young people with SEN
Ability to plan and deliver learning activities under guidance
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection guidance
Organised, flexible, and patient approach
Desirable:
Experience in a school or educational setting
Understanding of different SEN needs and interventions
Ability to use ICT effectively to support learning
