About the role

Source Supply are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm and supportive school in Sheffield, catering for children aged 3-11 with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), as well as other complex needs.

In this role, you will make a meaningful impact by supporting pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), speech and language difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex behavioural or medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality support to students with complex care needs and PMLD. Assist with personal care, including toileting, changing, and hygiene routines. Support with feeding and mealtime assistance, which may include the use of specialist feeding equipment. Safely assist with mobility and positioning, including hoisting and moving & handling procedures. Implement tailored education and care plans under the guidance of teaching and healthcare professionals. Encourage communication, engagement, and independence through creative and structured activities. Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support strategies.

Requirements

A proactive, resilient, and compassionate approach with strong communication skills. Experience in complex care, personal care, residential, respite, or SEND settings (adults or children) is highly desirable.

Moving & Handling/Hoist Training Certificate - desirable but not essential

(training can be provided). A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs to reach their full potential.
