Location: Sheffield

Salary: 450 -500 per week (Depending on experience and/or qualifications)

About the role

Source Supply are currently recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Sheffield-based school that provides education and care for young people aged 11 to 19 with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Speech and Language difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex health or behavioural needs.

If you have experience in care, personal assistance, residential work, or supporting individuals with special or complex needs, and are looking for a rewarding new challenge in education, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality support to students with complex care needs and PMLD.

Assist with personal care, including toileting, changing, and hygiene routines.

Support with feeding and mealtime assistance, which may include the use of specialist feeding equipment.

Safely assist with mobility and positioning, including hoisting and moving & handling procedures.

Implement tailored education and care plans under the guidance of teaching and healthcare professionals.

Encourage communication, engagement, and independence through creative and structured activities.

Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support strategies.

Requirements

A proactive, resilient, and compassionate approach with strong communication skills.

Experience in complex care, personal care, residential, respite, or SEND settings (adults or children) is highly desirable.

Moving & Handling/Hoist Training Certificate - desirable but not essential (training can be provided).

A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs to reach their full potential.
