If you have a gentle approach and a good understand of the EYFS you will be the ideal candidate for this role.
As a SEND Support Assistant, you will work closely with individual child or small groups to support their learning, development, and wellbeing in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will also work under the guidance of the SENCO and class lead to help implement individual learning plans (ILPs/EHCPs) and inclusive strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 or small group support for children with SEND
Assist with the implementation of personalised learning strategies
Promote communication, independence, and positive behaviour
Monitor and record children's progress and report to key staff
Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals
Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children
What We're Looking For
Experience working with young children, ideally in a nursery or preschool
A strong understanding of child development and SEND (including autism, speech and language needs, or behavioural needs)
Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
A relevant Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification
Knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements
Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., Makaton, PECS, behaviour strategies)
