Role purpose:

Support the creation of a pilot SEND Transitions Service in a Buckinghamshire school

This is an exciting opportunity for a SEND professional to be involved in the creation of an innovative new service for SEND students. We are looking for someone who can "hit the ground running" (or wheeling!) and start designing the new service through close liaison with school staff and students.

This role involves some work in a Buckinghamshire school, and the post holder must therefore be able to travel into the selected school as required. They must also be an appropriate person to work in a SEND school environment.

This is a part-time role. BuDS is committed to fully flexible working, and the post holder will have considerable discretion as to their working hours when working remotely from home. Work within the school environment will need to take place during school hours. The proportion of time spent in school will vary according to the needs of the role.

Background

BuDS has conducted research which demonstrates that a Transitions Service for SEND students will improve educational/employment outcomes and students' wellbeing and save schools and the local authority both time and money. This role will work closely with BuDS staff and volunteers, and onsite with a selected Buckinghamshire school. The aim is to explore the scope and elements of a transitions service with both school staff and selected students, and to produce an outline service design. Both educational and end of education transitions (i.e. to employment) are included in the potential scope.

BuDS is currently seeking finance to extend this initial pilot beyond (TBA) into the following two school years. If this funding is received, the post-holder will be offered a contract extension and an increase in hours.

Specific Responsibilities
