This role is essential to maintaining our high standards of service delivery, supporting our partners, and ensuring client satisfaction across our expanding portfolio. You will work closely with business owners, property investors, and growth-focused companies, providing high-level accounting, tax, and advisory support. --- Core Responsibilities Accounting & Compliance Review and supervise bookkeepers' work across payroll, VAT, CIS, and general bookkeeping. Prepare and finalise statutory year-end accounts under FRS 102 / FRS 105. Review trial balances, reconcile control accounts, and ensure full balance sheet accuracy. Prepare and submit Self-Assessment tax returns for directors, landlords, and sole traders. Manage HMRC and Companies House compliance, ensuring submissions and deadlines are met. --- Advanced Accounting & Advisory Enhance accounting systems, recommending automation tools and workflow improvements. Support tax planning: director remuneration, dividends, group structures, and corporate optimisation. Implement and maintain internal controls ensuring accuracy and compliance. Contribute to firm-wide KPIs, reporting insights to partners for strategic decision-making. Provide advisory insights to clients on business performance, cashflow, and structure. --- Management & Leadership Supervise, train, and mentor junior accountants and bookkeepers. Manage workflow allocation and review work before partner sign-off. Support partners in capacity planning, scheduling, and operational management. Lead process-improvement and efficiency projects within the practice. Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and staff training as the firm grows. --- Client Engagement & Relationship Management Serve as the primary contact for clients, resolving queries with confidence and professionalism. Build strong, long-term relationships through proactive communication and support. Present management accounts, year-end summaries, and financial insights clearly and strategically. Uphold Ulus & Co's reputation for dependable, professional, and human-centred service. --- Candidate Profile - Senior Accountant / Account Manager Qualifications & Experience Fully qualified ACCA/ACA (or equivalent). Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a UK practice. Strong working knowledge of Xero, including setup, integrations, and reporting. Excellent understanding of UK GAAP, VAT, CIS, PAYE, and company accounts preparation. Experience reviewing and preparing management and statutory accounts. Proven ability to supervise, lead, or manage small teams. --- Skills & Personal Attributes Strong analytical and commercial awareness. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis). Confident in a client-facing advisory environment. Proactive, responsible, and capable of managing deadlines independently. A leadership mindset with the ability to take ownership of complex deliverables. --- Job Details Job Type: Full-time Salary Range: 35,000 - 45,000 per year, depending on experience.
