Summary
"Senior Accountant/Management" position available at Brampton Accounting in Northwood. Join our dynamic team to contribute to innovative financial solutions and support our clients' success. This role is vital in maintaining our high standards of service and operational excellence.
Core Responsibilities
Accounting & Compliance
Review bookkeepers' work (payroll, CIS, VAT) and ensure submissions are timely and accurate.
Prepare and finalise year-end statutory accounts for Limited Companies under FRS 105/FRS 102.
Review trial balances and control accounts, ensuring balance-sheet integrity.
Self-Assessment preparation and submission for company directors and sole traders.
Liaise with HMRC and Companies House, managing all statutory obligations and deadlines.
Improve accounting systems and workflows; recommend automation tools or integrations to enhance efficiency.
Contribute to tax planning discussions, including director remuneration strategies, dividend planning, and company structure considerations.
Implement and monitor internal controls, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
Participate in the development of practice-wide KPIs and provide insights to drive strategic decision-making.
Management & Leadership
Supervise and mentor junior accountants and bookkeepers, providing coaching and technical guidance.
Manage workflow allocation, review outputs, and ensure client deadlines are met.
Assist partners with capacity planning and operational management.
Lead process-improvement initiatives, ensuring the firm continues to operate efficiently as it scales.
Support recruitment and training efforts as the team expands.
Client Engagement & Communication
Act as the first point of contact for client queries and technical issues.
Build strong client relationships through regular communication and proactive advice.
Present financial insights to clients in a clear, strategic manner, both verbally and in reports.
Contribute to the firm's reputation for trusted, personable, and expert financial support.
Candidate Profile for Accountant/Account Manager:
Qualifications & Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA or equivalent).
Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience within a UK accountancy practice (small or mid-tier preferred).
Extensive knowledge of Xero, with experience in system setup, integrations, and reporting.
Strong understanding of UK GAAP, VAT, CIS, and PAYE requirements.
Proven experience preparing and reviewing management accounts and statutory accounts.
Experience supervising staff or managing small teams.
Skills & Attributes
High level of commercial awareness and analytical ability.
Excellent communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, data analysis) and comfortable with modern accounting software.
Strong leadership mindset and ability to take ownership of deliverables.
Proactive, adaptable, and confident in a client-facing environment.
