Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to head our Account department, of three other staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting, with proficiency in various accounting software such as , Sage and specific manufacturing software, so experience in that sector is preferred. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards while also providing leadership to rest of the department.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with accounting principles. Oversee accounts payable processes to ensure timely payments and accurate record-keeping. Manage financial accounting tasks, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Utilise accounting software such as Sage, for effective financial management. Conduct regular audits of financial data to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Mentor junior accountants and assist in their professional development by providing guidance on best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making processes. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in financial regulations that may impact the organisation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is preferred. Proven experience in a senior accounting role within the financial services sector. Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices. Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Exceptional communication skills for liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
