Job Role:



A position has arisen within the accounts department to recruit a full time Senior Accounts Assistant, reporting direct to the Accounts Manager, to join our friendly accounts team to provide support to the department. The successful candidate will process and manage the full accounts function, managing a small team while supported by the Accounts Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who currently is looking to take the next step into managing a team while being supported from management. As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the day-to-day functions of the accounts department from sales and purchase ledgers to bank and journal creation, while also carrying out the following duties:

Manage and process invoices, payments, and expense reports accurately and in a timely manner.

Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring smooth cash flow operations.

Reconcile bank statements, ledger accounts, and financial records to maintain accuracy.

Ensure all transactions comply with financial policies and tax regulations.

Maintain and update financial systems, ensuring proper documentation and organization of records.

Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties

Handle supplier and customer queries related to accounting transactions.

Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and reconciling discrepancies.

Work closely with procurement and logistics teams on vendor payments and purchase orders.

Suggest process improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce errors in financial transactions.

Dealing with other department & supplier queries

Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties

Maintain file and records in accounts department.

Other various job tasks.

Skills & Experience:



Previous experience of multi disciplinary accounts function is essential with working in a manufacturing background preferable.

Ideally, you will be enthusiastic, well organised, diligent, and able to work to strict deadlines whilst paying attention to detail and working both as an individual and as part of a team.

Other skills and experience required include:

The successful candidate must have at least level 3 AAT or equivalent

Excellent mathematical skills will be essential for this role

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel spreadsheets

Excellent communication skills

Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail

Knowledge of Sage system is a benefit, although training will be given

Ability to manage your workload and be a team player

Benefits:



Salary - up to 38,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Financial support for further education

Permanent full-time position - 40 hours per week, 9-5pm Monday to Friday, half hour lunch break

20 days paid holiday plus all statutory bank holidays. You will gain an additional 1-day holiday for every year worked at the company (maximum of 3 additional days)
